Borg Queen’s Assimilator

What It Is

Apple vodka, apple schnapps and sweet-and-sour mix make a sharp green Star Trek-inspired cocktail designed to look considerably more dangerous than it is.

Origin

A Star Trek-inspired fan cocktail themed around the Borg Queen. No nanoprobes are included because I do have standards.

Fun Fact

Aroma changes how strongly we perceive flavour, which is why herbs, citrus peel and warm spices can make a simple recipe taste far more complicated than the effort involved.

(the Enterprise burns more than this just idling in orbit)

Ingredients

  • 1 oz green-apple vodka
  • 1 oz apple liqueur
  • 1 oz apple schnapps
  • Splash sweet-and-sour mix

Steps

  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
  3. Add a flavoured sugar rim if desired.

Notes

Taste before the final adjustment. A recipe should guide dinner, not bully it. If it needs a little more acid, sweetness, salt or heat, make the change in small steps instead of launching the whole spice rack into orbit.

A genuinely respectable nutrition profile. No red flags here — go ahead and feel a little smug about it.

Substitutions

Use equivalent ingredients where needed for allergies or availability, but keep the main sweet/sour/salty/spicy balance intact. This is cooking, not a hostage negotiation.

Storage

Keep covered and chilled. Fresh-fruit or dairy drinks are best used within 1–2 days; fizzy drinks are happiest served the same day before the bubbles file for retirement.

Freezing

Freeze still fruit bases or concentrates if useful, but add carbonation after thawing. Dairy-heavy drinks are better made fresh.
