The "Pickle" Rick

What It Is

Parsley, garlic, dill, onion, basil and pepper are whisked into milk and mayonnaise for a ranch-style dressing wearing a Rick and Morty name tag and absolutely refusing to explain itself.

Origin

A ranch-style American dressing given a Rick and Morty title because apparently one pickle episode was never going to stay contained.

Fun Fact

Dill pickles are pickles flavoured with dill. They do not detox your liver, kidneys, soul, ex-boyfriend or taxes. They are cucumbers with excellent PR.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dried parsley
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1½ tbsp dill weed
  • ½ tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup 3% milk
  • 1 cup light mayonnaise

Steps

  1. Whisk the dried herbs and spices together.
  2. Add milk and mayonnaise.
  3. Whisk until fully incorporated and refrigerate before serving.

Notes

This one leans hard into dill, so if that's not your household's favourite herb, this may not be the seasoning blend that changes their mind.

Substitutions

This dried herb blend tolerates real adjustment — dial any component up or down based on what you're seasoning. Fresh dill at triple the amount can replace dried if that's what you have.

Storage

This is a dry herb blend — store in a sealed container in a cool, dark cupboard, not the fridge. Keeps for up to 6 months.

Freezing

Freezing is usually unnecessary for a small batch of sauce. If you do freeze it, use small portions and expect creamy or emulsified sauces to need a good whisk after thawing.
