Avocado Lime Dressing

What It Is

Avocado and lime are mashed into milk, mayonnaise, yogurt and ranch seasoning for a creamy green dressing that works on salads, sandwiches and chips.

Origin

A Mexican-American fusion dressing combining avocado-lime flavours with American ranch seasoning.

Fun Fact

Lime juice slows avocado browning by lowering pH and reducing oxidation. It does not stop time, but it buys lunch a few extra hours.

Ingredients

  • 2 avocados
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • 1 cup 3% milk
  • ¼ cup light mayonnaise
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup ranch seasoning mix

Steps

  1. Mash avocado with lime juice until smooth.
  2. Mix milk, mayonnaise, yogurt and ranch seasoning.
  3. Stir in the avocado mixture until thoroughly combined, or shake in a sealed jar.

Notes

One cup of dry ranch seasoning is a LOT. If yours is concentrated commercial mix, start with much less and add to taste unless sodium is your chosen final boss.

A genuinely respectable nutrition profile. No red flags here — go ahead and feel a little smug about it.

Substitutions

Lemon juice can replace lime in a pinch, the flavour shifts slightly but it's still bright. Any plain yogurt works, dairy or a thick plant-based version. 2% or whole milk both work fine here.

Storage

Press plastic wrap directly against the surface or use a tightly sealed jar and refrigerate. Best within 1–2 days.

Freezing

Not recommended. Avocado can freeze, but the dairy-and-mayo mixture may split into something that looks emotionally complicated.
